The Prodigal Preacher

Few people’s writings have impacted my life as much as Tim Keller’s…along with his sermons. I first heard him speak in the late 80s. Then was blessed in 2010 to work with him and his wife Kathy, on my documentary, C. S. Lewis: Why He Matters Today.
Keller’s book, “The Prodigal God,” has been a game changer of biblical understanding for me. That’s why I have required my media criticism class to read it for over 10 years. (I strongly recommend you read it, if you have not already done so.)
My biggest takeaway from Tim Keller was how he underlined that there are many GOOD things in this life, but none of them can bear the weight of our souls. When we put those expectations on such things…they can easily become our idols…even our “ministry.”
Only God’s grace can satisfy our deepest longings.
